All client data accessed by Risk Assist is managed as confidential and proprietary information. To the extent that any of the information becomes subject to the terms of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), access to confidential information is restricted to employees or agents of Risk Assist identified as having a "need to know" and the discussion of protected information with other employees, agents or other third parties is prohibited in compliance with the final privacy and security rules established by the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) or the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) pertaining to HIPAA compliance.

Security

Data access/transfer tools utilize industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and/or RC4 Encryption technology. The information is protected using both authentication and data encryption, ensuring that the data are secure and only accessible by registered users. A session "cookie" is issued only to record encrypted authentication information for a specific session. "Cookies" do not store other confidential session information, but implement security methods based on encoded session IDs. Data collected through electronic forms awaiting transmission may be stored temporarily on the server and are encrypted with 128-bit AES encryption.

Hosted data are stored in a secure server environment protected by firewalls and other technology to prevent interference or access from outside intruders. Connection to applications on the hosted Windows 2008 Server is made through RDP Version 6 or higher with 128-bit RC4 encryption and strong server authentication algorithms. The Advantage Database Server encrypts the application databases on the server using 160-bit RC4 encryption.
